Description and Analysis

Early Dimes
1804 14 STARS REV JR-2 10C MS

Description & Analysis

JR-2 utilized a 14-star die that was shared with the 1804 BD-2 quarter eagle. Their similarity of size and identical design permitted dimes and quarter eagles to use reverse dies interchangeably, and there are several such instances known.

JR-2 is slightly the scarcer of these two varieties, but neither is common. Mint State examples are unknown, and this date is almost always seen in low grades.
