Description and Analysis
Classic Head Half Cents
1836 REV 40 RESTRIKE 1/2C PF
Description & Analysis
Yet a third production of 1836 half cents occurred some years later, this one pairing the original obverse die with one of the style of 1840-57. These are known as Second Restrikes and are easily distinguished by their incorrect reverse type.
Walter Breen stated in his 1988 Encyclopedia that a mere five examples are known of the Second Restrike.
