Description and Analysis

Jefferson Five Cents
1953 D 5C MS

Description & Analysis

1953 D nickels are superior to those of the other mints, and they are the only ones that offer much hope of finding reasonably well struck pieces. Even these, however, tend to be soft at their centers, including the critical steps of Monticello.

A minor doubled-die obverse is of little interest, and the same may be said for the few known repunched mintmark dies.
