Description and Analysis
1902 10C PF
Description & Analysis
Starting in 1902 and lasting for the next several years the U. S. Mint abandoned the practice of using proof dies with frosted cavities. This resulted in little or no contrast between fields and devices.
This is perhaps most evident on the 1902 proof dimes, which are the ones least likely to be certified as Cameo (Ultra Cameos are completely unknown). In addition, this date is among the very rarest of proof Barber Dimes in higher grades, regardless of their Cameo status.
