Description and Analysis
1869 1C PF
Description & Analysis
The number of additional pieces struck after outside of the 600 included in silver proof sets in unknown. A figure of a few hundred is likely.
Like most proof cents of this period, this issue is rare in fully red gem, most being toned to some degree and having spots, streaks or other visual distractions. Polishing lines from clumsy surfacing of the dies are often seen on 1869 proof cents, and these should not be confused with hairline scratches from cleaning of the coin itself.
