Modern Commemoratives

Description & Analysis

The Boy Scouts of America was founded on February 8th, 1910, and is the United States' largest youth organization with over 2.4 million members. The organization is Federally chartered, and over 100 million people have participated in their programs since its inception. The organization teaches its members "to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law."

In honor of the centennial of the Boy Scouts, Congress authorized the minting of up to 350,000 silver dollars in both proof and mint state finishes. They proved incredibly popular (there is a coin-collecting badge, after all!) and the Mint sold a total of 349,983 of the coins across the two finishes.
