Description & Analysis
The 1940-S half dollar is notorious as perhaps the rarest entry in this series having a full strike. Nearly all examples are quite poorly struck, with no detail on Liberty's torso, her left leg, the eagle's breast and its left leg. Aside from the strike issue, it is a common coin through MS-65, with rapidly falling numbers in higher grades.
