Description & Analysis

The immediate post-war recession of 1946-47 began to lift this year, and Philadelphia's production of quarter dollars rose about 50% over that of 1947. Abundant through MS 66, the next higher grade is a bit more scarce than for most issues of this period. Quality control was poor at the Philadelphia and San Francisco Mints, as compared to the coins struck at Denver.

Varieties are limited to very minor doubled-dies for either side, and these are of little interest.
