Description & Analysis

In the aftermath of World War I, the U.S. Mint stopped production of Walking Liberty halves for three years. They resumed again, but only in San Francisco where nearly 2.4 million pieces struck. These coins suffered from quite poor quality, including weak strikes and bag marks. This lack of quality is evidenced in the NGC census, as only 39 coins have merited the grade of MS or above.
