Description & Analysis

In 1919, the United States was just emerging from the first World War. This caused a slowdown in the markets, which meant fewer coins were needed. Therefore, mintages of circulating coinage fell precipitously in 1919 across all three mints.

The mintage of the 1919 Philadelphia Walker was a mere 962,000 pieces. This makes it the third lowest mintage of any Philadelphia Walker in the series. Luckily for collectors, the Philly issue of this date is much easier to come by in high grade than either branch mint's issue.
