Description & Analysis

Noted Walking Liberty half dollar expert Bruce Fox has stated that he believes the Denver Mint had a policy in place in 1916 that was meant to preserve die life by increasing the space between the dies. This would explain the mushy strikes often found on the 1916-D Walkers. However, even though strikes were often weak, quality was high as evidenced by the availability of this date in gem and above.
