Coinage of this issue was limited to the opening months of the year, after which time this denomination became obsolete. The result was a smaller mintage than in 1872, and it's not certain that all of these coins were actually issued.

Though more available in Mint State than its Philadelphia Mint cousin, this is still a fairly scarce issue in gem condition.
