NGC and PMG Remain Open and Fully Operational >
The NGC Universal ID is a four digit alphanumeric that groups coins based on a unique combination of date, mintmark, denomination and striking process (MS, PF, or SP). These IDs are a simple organization of all coins prior to variety attribution and grading.
This is one of the 'common dates' among Seated Liberty Silver Dollars in the 1840s. The mintage of 140,750 coins was the eighth highest mintage of any date in the No Motto series, and the fourth highest of the decade. As such, it seems likely that examples would be easily obtainable in any desired grade, but this is truly not the case. Gems are virtually impossible to locate.
