Description & Analysis

The coining of three-cent pieces dropped rapidly during 1876, as the falling price of silver as measured against paper money led to fractional silver coins returning to circulation by the millions. The three-cent piece was never again an important component of the nation's currency.

This issue is scarce in the higher circulated grades and all Mint State grades. Gems are genuinely rare.
