The NGC Universal ID is a four digit alphanumeric that groups coins based on a unique combination of date, mintmark, denomination and striking process (MS, PF, or SP). These IDs are a simple organization of all coins prior to variety attribution and grading.
Mintages of proof dimes from 1936 to 1942 gradually increased from 4,130 coins in 1936 to 11,827 coins in 1940, to 22,329 coins in 1942. In fact, the total mintage of proofs from 1936 to 1940 (39,762), was nearly the same as the total in 1941 and 1942 (38,886).
