NGC and PMG Remain Open and Fully Operational >
The NGC Universal ID is a four digit alphanumeric that groups coins based on a unique combination of date, mintmark, denomination and striking process (MS, PF, or SP). These IDs are a simple organization of all coins prior to variety attribution and grading.
Throughout the year, the Mint in Philadelphia produced a total of 251,015 business strikes of this date, and enough examples remain in circulated grades that nearly any collector can obtain one with little difficulty. Quite a number of Mint State examples are also known today, but nearly every one of those grades only MS60 or MS61.
