NGC and PMG Remain Open and Fully Operational >
The NGC Universal ID is a four digit alphanumeric that groups coins based on a unique combination of date, mintmark, denomination and striking process (MS, PF, or SP). These IDs are a simple organization of all coins prior to variety attribution and grading.
A rare P-mint eagle in any grade, only 3,990 business strikes were produced with the vast majority of pieces in the VF and XF grade range. Pieces grading higher than XF are of the greatest importance and rarity. Akers notes that he had seen 'only one that graded as high as AU,' and no uncirculated pieces have surfaced in the last fifty years.
