NGC and PMG Remain Open and Fully Operational >
The NGC Universal ID is a four digit alphanumeric that groups coins based on a unique combination of date, mintmark, denomination and striking process (MS, PF, or SP). These IDs are a simple organization of all coins prior to variety attribution and grading.
Even business strikes of this date, with a mintage of 3,500 pieces, are seldom seen, although when encountered they are quite lovely, and a few extremely high grade pieces are seen infrequently in the marketplace, most of them at least partially prooflike. The Harry W. Bass, Jr., Collection contained three examples. The proof mintage was 30 coins, although more proof examples appear to have survived than for other dates with comparable mintages.
