Description & Analysis

This is one of the higher mintage issues in the Barber series and is correspondingly common across all grades shy of MS 66. Most Mint State survivors are poorly struck where the deepest cavities of the dies oppose one another from obverse to reverse. These include the hair at Liberty's forehead and the eagle's left claw and its adjacent arrow feathers.

An extremely minor repunching is visible on the 4 for one die, but this is of little interest to collectors.
