Description & Analysis

This is a fairly common issue for the 1892-96 period, though not when compared to later dates. The higher circulated grades through MS 64 are just slightly scarce, while gems are a little more plentiful than for previous issues other than 1892(P). Prooflike coins are sometimes seen, these probably coined with retired proof dies, but few have deep enough mirrors to be certified as PL.

Two very minor repunched date varieties are known, but these are of interest only to series specialists.
