Description & Analysis

Despite that economic depression that set in during 1893-97, the Philadelphia Mint struck a fairly generous number of quarter dollars for 1894. This date is plentiful in worn condition and only slightly scarce in the higher circulated grades. Mint State coins have survived to the extent that advanced collectors will have no trouble finding one, though gems are distinctly in the minority. Prooflike coins are rare, and these perhaps were coined from retired proof dies that still bore their polished fields.

No varieties are reported for the 1894(P) quarter dollar.
