Description & Analysis

The San Francisco Mint only struck 847,044 Barber half dollars in 1901. There was still great demand for coinage in the West, so much of this mintage went directly into circulation, meaning few were saved in high grade. This has made the 1901-S Barber halves one of the absolute keys to the series, especially in high grade.
