Description & Analysis

Most 1903(P) dimes are well struck, but the coin illustrated does show some weakness in its date. Luster is also typically good for this issue.

With very high mintage, unworn examples are fairly plentiful in grades shy of the gem level (MS 65 or higher). Worn examples may be found in most grades without much difficulty.

Numerous repunched date varieties are known, but only one of these is bold enough to attract much interest. Also intriguing is a misplaced date variety that is more clearly evident than most of this sort.
