I purchased the FINEST PL known of a unpopular coin!

Only 2 PL's exist one 63 & my 66!

My coin is a Canada NGC 1951 pl66 low res nickel.

Ngc is still denying my right to put this coin in my George Nickel set.

Ngc only lets in INFERIOR junk.

I hope they let me get this in!

Thanks!

Not sure what you mean about the NGC registry.... the rules are pretty simple. If its in NGC plastic, you can put it in. If it's not, you can't. You have no "right" to do anything - its their website, and they do what they want.

Most of the 19th century silver tokens in Britain were shillings and sixpences. Here's an example of a higher denomination piece.

I just won quite possibly the most beautiful coin I have ever been able to call my own. Sorry if I outbid you on the auction folks. Well worth the price!!

1921 Mexico Centennial 2 Pesos in MS63

A prize in my collection.

Those have been tough to find with color of any sort let alone nice symmetrical color. I like the dark toning. Nice score. Especially in MS63

I recently purchased 4 Canada NGC sp67 dimes.

They are 1974, 1975, 1978, 1979.

The 1978 & 1979 are in the competitive set.

My 1974 & 1975 are refused from the competitive set.

Please add these to the NGC competitive set.

Dimes start at 1976. Nickels start at 1953. Please make dimes the same!

Thanks!

My recent acquisition.

Battle of Grunwald was fought on July 15, 1410.

My son was born July 15, 2012.

I wanted this coin for almost 4 years, but was unable to find one for a good price.

Finally I found one and pulled the trigger.

Proposed mintage 5000, but only 2500 coins were sold.

You can read more about Battle of Grunwald here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Grunwald

I'm in a similar situation. I thought it'd be neat to own a coin from the year of "The Black Death". Finally I found this in a Heritage auction and bought it.

It's a "Louis d'or" of France of King Philip VI, 3rd emission. Supposedly it was struck in January, 1348 (NGC-63).

Now the black death first made landfall in Europe in late 1347, but it spread in Europe during 1348 so this was the year I was looking for. I like to do coin showings to non-collectors as well as doing the BSA coin collecting merit badge. So I intend to tell people that the reason why it's in a hermetically sealed slab is also to deter/lessen their chances of contracting the Bubonic Plague! I need to find one of those "bio hazard" stickers for the back of the slab.

Also I should mention that the price of these has fallen dramatically since I first started looking at them 5-6 years ago. Probably they found a hoard of them in a castle somewhere?

more images of the event & a person who got the plague in Oregon in 2012 & survived it. He pulled a mouse out of his cat's mouth with his hand!

While here I should mention that 1410 is within the purview of the early dated European coinage. Thus it may be possible to buy an actual silver piece with the date 1410 if you really look for one.
