I'm thinking the early Silver Dollar Coins 1794 Flowing Hair and 1795 Drape Bust. had the edges inscribed 100 cents. So the $1.00 Silver Dollar would be the highest denomination circulating coin.

Stella $4 which contains the words "400 Cents" on the reverse. While technically a pattern, it should qualify since there are many circulated examples, so the mint likely released them for circulation, even if not an adopted design.

The $4.00 Stella was not a circulating coin.

The One Dollar coin from 1794 to 1803 had edge lettering that said Hundred Cents. As far as I know that was the highest denomination.
