What year was NGC chosen as the official grading service of the American Numismatic Association?

Well I know 1997 was wrong as I can see the official grading service logo in a 1996 issue of the Numismatist. This is not the type of question where you should get second and third chances so I won't guess again. I noticed you posted the question later for our west coast members. Nice touch!
