Both the Philly and Denver nickels in 1960 were poorly struck as a whole. Good examples are hard to find. Full step coins are very rare. I believe NGC shows only 9 graded FS coins from Philly and 0 from Denver across all grades. I would say your coins are probably UNC.

Here are my examples of 1960 P MS655FS and a 1960 D MS67 for comparison. Not the greatest looking coins by any means.

Thanks Lem ;) I had a feeling they were UNC after looking again and your MS coins look the same as the ones I have been looking at in my roll. I did find some with Die chips in the date ? looks kinda cool. I did some searching but have not found any to compare them to yet.hm

I don’t have my books with me but I believe they wore out the master hubs during the 60s and they had to be replaced.

when I was putting together my Jefferson set I would go to my favorite coin shop and sit for a couple hours at a time sorting through fifties and sixties nickels. One day the owner says "you won't find a full step coin, you know". I answered "full step!? I will settle for full windows!"

One of the coin shops here had a box of 2003-D Jefferson nickel mint rolls on their counter. Purchased a roll for $6. Maybe one or two maybe MS66+ FS. The listed value is $250 at that grade, and only two have graded at MS67FS with a $1,800 valuation. It is tempting, but have so far resisted submitting.

Believe it or not, that 1960 P MS655FS coin has a NGC value of $1800 and the 1960 D at MS67 is $500. I would really go through that roll JP and see if you have anything that looks good.

Ya Lem I may have to look again. The price drops off so fast a MS 65 is $30 not worth grading a 65 or less a MS66 is $130 it is hard to judge with all the bag contact marks it may be tough to find a 67 but I will pick the ones that I think will grade 66 or 67 and post it and see what you guys think

This was the best looking one but it still looks more like a 63 64 65 the hair is more worn than yours. It has a nice Adams apple but my Monticello is in rough shape.
