Several names I recognized among the winners. Quite a few I didn't. There's quite a few more ranked people than before. Maybe some of them will start joining us here. I'm surprised CoVID didn't drive more collectors online.

The journal award winners kinda have to be board users though. But Gary and ColonialCoinsUK were the obvious picks for this year. I'm glad and grateful NGC continues to support it.

This is the second year in a row that NGC’s generosity has completely caught me off guard. I never expected I would win a major registry award, much less two! This year, the set that represents the core of my collecting interests won the “Most Informative Custom Set” award, and I am beyond grateful. The NGC registry provides an invaluable platform for me to share my collection and passion for the history it represents. I have dedicated a good deal of time to building several custom sets with the intent to provide knowledge to interested collectors in an enjoyable format. The NGC comments provide extended hope for that goal. This honor has provided some much needed good news in an otherwise bleak year. I would like to thank the NGC staff for their consideration and generosity.

I must admit I was a bit surprised.  I didn't do as much with that set this year.  There was one good addition (which took quite a few shenanigans to purchase and without the registry I may have not tried so hard) but the write up stuff really hasn't changed. And some of the coins do not appear to exist in real life, so it will never be 100%. 

And how does one start collecting Albanian coins you might ask?  Well, when starting to collect as adult many of us will start with the 'OFEC' or 'one from every country' theme.  Turns out it is HARD to pick just one coin!  And Albania is early in the alphabet :D.

Not posting much anywhere lately, lots going on 'in real life' and collecting took a back burner.  I almost didn't even open the email.  That said, I do try and check in on 'the boards' at least to lurk once or twice a week.

Congratulations to all the winners - some amazing coins and sets, it just makes you want to collect everything!

This year my contribution has been a bit intermittent, and not as regular as I hoped, so another Journal Award from NGC was an extremely nice surprise. As @Star City Homer said 'real life' probably got in the way for most of us this year - personnaly everything seems to take much longer done remotely so it was good to get back to work as my day job really needs specialist facilities. Major post-COVID complications didn't help either so I won't be running anywhere for a while - not that anyone would notice the difference.

I have to say that I believed, based on past award winners, that our host only recognized sets with lots of high grade and/or top pop coins.  However, last year I won one of the 10 Best Classic Set awards (for my Spanish Colonial Mexico City 8 reales pillar dollars, no less) and this time it was the Best World Custom Set, yet these sets have almost no MS level coins and many "details" graded ones.  It is gratifying to see that some sets can win awards based on the vision of the collector's goal rather than technical standards.

Thank you. This is a first for me. I am fairly new to the Competitive Sets registry, this set being only a year and a half young. I, like some other winners, never expected to win a major registry award . Thank you, NGC for considering me in your selection. It is truly an honor and I am humbled and grateful for being selected as a winner.

The set that won was my "Philippines Silver Commemoratives 1947-1999, Circulation Issue" set: https://www.ngccoin.com/registry/competitive-sets/awards/195425/  

It won one of the three "Best Presented World Sets" awards. I am really proud of this set and I would say that it is the heart of my and soul of my numismatic interest. Sharing my collection to coin enthusiasts from around the world is truly a rewarding experience for me. I hope this award will increase awareness and exposure for coins from the Republic of the Philippines and the history they capture. Many collectors are familiar with the US-Philippine (USPI) coins of 1903-1945. I invite everyone to check out the more of the coins from 1947 onward. Who knows? Maybe it will encourage you or others to start collecting this (or any) theme, or grow a collection, or even start a registry set.

I have lots of ideas and hopes for the IoM registry this year, specifically the circulating/decimal coinage. We'll see if NGC agrees with me.

There definitely a need for more I-O-M sets. Also nice pick-up.
