1921 S half dollar grade? 0

Hi everybody, what do you guys think the grade of this half dollar would be?

I’m newish so others will be more accurate. But to take a stab at testing what I’m learning, I would say this is roughly a Fine (12). BUT there appears to be damage (the chunk missing out of the leg). So that detracts.

I would call it VG08 details and net grade it down to VG4 or VG6 for the nicks and obv gouge.

I am thinking it would certify at least as F-12 to F-15.  Normally, it's value would not be enough to really justify certification, but these are so doggone tough to grade that, for educational purposes, you might consider sending it in to NGC.

With damage to the leg, it might not be certifiable. Why not ask a dealer who has submission privileges for his/her opinion....Unless one wants to risk $25+.....

My guess would be Fine Details based on the leg damage.  Without the damage, F12 or possibly F15.

Submit your coin at XF grade. If you get a higher grade that would be worth it.
