This 1878 5 Pesetas weighs 23.0 grams according to a fairly accurate scale. Do you think it is a counterfeit?

hard to say since it has been so heavily and harshly cleaned, and possibly acid soaked.  But a 2 gram weight reduction would be rather extreme for a genuine coin.  A soak in acid could do it, but i would think this would be something a specialist would have to see, and an XRF test might be a good idea as well.
