Anybody know when the ANA Registry is coming out?

Sweden went the exact opposite way from (let me copy and paste) Thailand, Taiwan, Vietnam, New Zealand, to a certain extent Australia, and here they sit today with a NEW infection rate of nearly zero and still declining. Until there is an effective vaccine, if there ever is one, nothing can be done to end this scourge short of getting it and surviving it. All you can do is time shift your locale's outbreak.

Yes, by all means, try to keep it at bay until vaccines are ready. But you'd better have a Plan B in case there never is a truly effective one.

President Putin purportedly has a vaccine. I am inclined to believe him [despite then-VP Biden's crack about looking into his eyes and not seeing a soul.] After all,  I have no reason to doubt the veracity of a claim made by a former KGB official.

Yes, this. Be prepared. This is what it might have to come down to. There is no "right to a cure" if only we hate the current leadership enough.

They did not invent a vaccine for H1N1 until 2009 and that was the Swine Flue variant.  This is close to the Influenza shot we get every year.  This vaccine changes often because Influenza evolves often.

The nuns at Catholic school told us you couldn't see the soul.  I asked an Army doctor about it once and he told me it was located down and near our gizzard.

Russia doesn't do an equivalent of Stage 3 clinical trials. We have at least 7 candidates in Stage 3 clinical trials. So while Russia may have a vaccine by their standards, we have 7 already, by their standards.

Guys - While I respect the fact that there are a lot of strong feelings on this, I'm hoping that this argument - which has completely highjacked this thread - can either end, move to pms, or move to the water cooler - even then, some of this is getting dangerously close to being political. This thread was about the ANA registry and NGC has given us their answer - it was delayed but they're still very much on it.

Stay safe. Stay healthy.

Utter foolishness. None of those places are able to sustain those numbers long term. As long as "human fuel" remains, this virus will burn. The only thing that changes is precisely WHEN. The ONLY thing that can or will stop this is something approaching herd immunity infection levels.

Problem is it keeps mutating. There will probably never be a cure. I decided long ago I will (at 73) not live my life in fear. High risk or not I am living my life.

Take comfort in the fact you don't live deep in the heart of Manhattan where the risk, if not from the virus or drug-crazed homeless zombies, is exponentially higher.

Hopefully back on the right track. Any update? I haven't heard anything. It will be interesting to see if all of the U.S. Sets are migrated or just the active and visible ones.

The ANA Registry came out again this morning - saw its shadow in the snow - and went into hibernation. At least that's what I saw on the internet, so it must be true.

So does the Pennsylvania Lottery’s mascot, Gus, the second most famous groundhog in Pennsylvania, play a role here?

Hey Phil!

I got the logs a burning and some nice red coals....come on over for dinner. I'll supply good merlot wine and hors d'oeuvre. Hmmmm, mmmmm, them's southern eats !

According to the habitat map below, groundhogs do not live in the Deep South. I know I have never seen one in the wild. Eating them must be a Yankee thing.

[Dynamic thread!  The OP, i.e., the gentleman who initiated the thread --  not clear if he was satisfied with the answer he got -- promptly abandoned it, and was never heard from again. Revenant admonished the hijackers, but the posting has since devolved into a free-fire zone -- and brought out the best in all of us. I love the camaraderie demonstrated by loose cannons on loose threads. I wonder how 1917 feels about all this? Great stuff!]

They are basically large moles powered by dandelions.

And dry cat food. [Don't ask.]

Gus plays the clarinet. The other groundhog is the actor and plays a role.

I have two groundhogs who live under my neighbor's back deck, and they come into my back yard to steal cat food. If you have some "extra" work available, pass by the casting agent.

How about a can of "Rat-B-Gone" for the cat food? Added benefit -- will eliminate the cat infestation, too!

Careful, chief among my challenges to any chance of admiring you is THIS mishigas. DON'T make it harder than it needs to be. My wife already wants me to point you out at the next ANA show so she can hurt you.

Awwww shucks. Would be a pleasure to meet you and your wife, but I attend very few coin shows.

Longhorn saw its shadow today, back to the shade tree. 4 more weeks of hot weather in Texas. Good thing heat kills the 'virus', at least that's what I heard at the casino, and my favorite café, and at the lake yesterday.

[Heat kills the virus; hurricanes blow the dead carcasses away.]

I have eaten Groundhog and it is absolutely terrible.  I would recommend Catfish and black eyed peas.  BTW:  For any of you who might ask - I have hunted, killed and eaten just about everything that walks, crawls or swims on the North American Continent.

[I cannot, sir, I cannot.  Bad enough you risk ostracism and marginalization for simply acknowledging my comment.  Besides, VkurtB is surely watching. And I do not want to overstay my welcome on 1917's thread.]

“You are what you eat.” Careful with that.
