That's a brass game counter. These were used for gambling in place of actual coins. It's hard to tell its size from the photos, but it's likely the diameter of an eagle or half eagle. The Dancing Bears type is among the more popular ones. These tokens were cataloged by in a series of books by Benj Fauver during the 1970s, but they've been out of print for many years.
