Looks like the inside of the S has broken off, similar to a Die Chip. Should not affect the value too much either way. It is not uncommon on Mint Marks.

What year is it? I'm not a Morgan person, but it seems like it could be a VAM (variety) as there would be other coins like it if it's a broken S. (I don't know if VAMs go into mint mark flaws like this though).
