I am trying to identify this 1965 - 6 coin Peru coin set in cello.(see pictures below) I have been able to identify all the coins as far as being "commemorative". Five coins in the set includes the 5, 10, 25 Centavo and a 1/2 Sol and a 1 Sol, all struck in brass. It also includes a 6th coin ; a Veinte (20) Soles struck in .9000 Silver. Question: Is this just a 6 coin commemorative set of the 400th ANNIVERSARY OF THE LIMA MINT or is it possible that it is a "proof" set ? I understand how to tell the difference in sets of coins from the USA. I have begun to collect world coins and I am having a hard time telling the difference. Thank you !!! Moxie15 Posted February 20, 2020 Share Posted February 20, 2020 I am unfamiliar with this set. If this was a French set I think it would be called Fleur de Coin. I have several French sets labeled as such. They are not business strike nor a true proof. The best I have been able to come up with is more like a Specimen strike. I bought their set of commemorative Magic Lima Beans, but delayed planting them.
