What to do if I encounter a fraudulently entered coin in the NGC registry? 1 1

I sold a friend a coin recently and he subsequently crossed it over to PCGS successfully at grade.  I removed it from my set, but must have forgotten to delete it from the coins I own cause I got a request yesterday asking to transfer it to another set.  I have confirmed that the person that made the request does not own the coin.   What should I do?  The coin in question is no longer in a NGC holder and I know it.

Well, since you got a transfer request, after you confirm with the friend that they haven't sold the coin to this other person, I'd refuse the transfer and make a comment to NGC about it. Yeah, you don't own the coin anymore, but this guy doesn't either and at least you aren't trying to use it to cheat. 

I'd also suggest to your friend / the purchaser that they chime in and let NGC know that the coin was crossed.

The PCGS fanbois that do this need to realize that they need to report these cross-overs or they're letting this happen.

The fanboys ats don't care one iota about NGC or the accuracy of the pop reports, heck they barely care about the pop reports there.  On a different note its sad that a pristine old fatty slab was destroyed, shame.  For anyone reading this if you encounter this situation in the future its best to be proactive and contact NGC, provide the information about the sale and the new PCGS number so that they can delete the coin from the system.  Also @Ali E. I hope that you will consider some action against the person that attempted to fraudulently use this coin in the registry, this type of dishonesty shouldn't be rewarded.

I understand that they don't give two hoots about us - or anyone other than themselves it seems - but I would think / hope it would bother them that other people are claiming to own their property and trying to use it to win awards and prizes.

To be honest there are some ats that simply just don't care because it doesn't involve "their" PCGS registry, if someone tried to use it over there I'm sure they would then raise heck.  I am a member there also and there are threads all the time with members boasting about coins they crossed even accepting a downgrade just to get coins in "the right plastic".  It really does make you wonder just how often this happens and how many current top ten NGC registry sets have illegal coins in them, it was only caught this time because the op had forgotten to delete the coin from his inventory.  But had he immediately deleted the coin from inventory the coin would have been added and nobody the wiser.  And how did the cheat that attempted to use this coin even find out that the coin had been crossed and might be available to use in this manor is an interesting question, seems like a sick individual.

that sucks that this coin was taken out of the old fatty and crossed over. Looked nice in that NGC holder
