Just wondering if this is common and worth keeping. I tried to look it up and read that this was a good year for these to have doubled.

I did a little research and found out the date is called a DD, deterioration doubling die. Some are lightly noticeable and some are strongly noticeable. Hmmmm. Now I'm checking into the ear part. This is cool how interesting.

I'd say the ear appears more likely to be doubling than the date & leaves.  Speaking of Canadian coinage though, what sites did you find with information on Canadian varieties?  I'm trying to learn a little more about Canada & UK (decimal) coinage but haven't decided on which books to purchase or sites to visit to start with.

Hi crawtomatic, I just went to Coinsandcanada.com when you get there, tap on Canadian coins then scroll down and tap on errors and varieties. Then its number # 11 . I don't know yet how to put up links yet. Sorry. But this is the best way to help you get there that I know.
