1951 Nickel question

I have a 1951 nickel that has an error (filled in) 5 in date. Not sure if this would be deterioration or an actual error. Can't imagine it being deterioration when the top of the 5 looks like it was squished at time of minting, but could use a little help from people more knowledgeable than I. I'm still a novice.  :)  Any help is greatly appreciated.  Nickel1951a.jpg.61c32dbdd9c601db60c388990603ad4e.jpgNickel1951.thumb.jpg.2b351508d7d7be236eb646b0da8ed149.jpgNickel1951b.jpg.8195448b4ddf058dfe198e297c0b6e60.jpgNickel51.jpg.d0def84b6534fdd3120cb88accb920ec.jpgNickel1951c.jpg.7c8ecda80e0f8f5e69b223edbd1ed129.jpg
