Welcome to the Chat Board.

Not an error Post Minting Damage. There is no way for that to happen during the striking of the coin.

It has just taken taken several hits which has damaged the letters.

Same. The raised metal of letters and numbers on coins is quite vulnerable to damage. Something lands on the coin, or scrapes it, and damage is done.
