Not sure about that sir

Lighting is impossible to tell if the double ear is there

The neck marker for die clash is not there

Picture is not close enough to see open or closed 9

Definitely Far date almost very far date

Impossible to see die markers in liberty

I guess it could be it's evil mimic #39 . Need better images to tell for sure . But I think with the die erosion on both the obverse & reverse of the dies . It more like #61 ....

Mr. Hicks . Why would you post a coin and not come back to the thread, to follow up on the answers ?

I'm checking in on it from time to time. I appreciate all the feedback. I read the responses but can't respond at the time I read them and then I forget that I didn't respond.

Okay from what I see

Your full front picture does show a Double ear both inside and outside

Your date is a far date

Your date is a high closed 9

What you think is pits are actual normal under this high of a magnification - There is some signs

of a sunk in die

I do not see any obvious sings of a clash from your pictures - but in my defense they are not the best  :-)

We have no way with your pictures of seeing any die markers that would help identify this VAM.

I will give you my best guess.

VAM-39   Looks to fit.

If you want to go to this page and try to get pictures like the ones shown we can tell better ..

That being said the coin has some obvious damage to it - the gouges in front of the ear and some sort of oxidization, acid burn or plain old environmental damage

I have a similar coin which I will post pictures of it under its own heading … so you can compare ...

Thanks for sharing

One other thing it looks like you are using a phone.

Put the phone settings for the camera on manual and set the manual focus on full closeup.

Then move the camera/phone until the picture is in focus

Use good lighting

example of result

I think this is doubling on the inside portion of the nine?

This is a lighting anomaly as the previous picture which is more straight on, the doubling is not there ..

This is the picture I am talking about - no doubling but does show a did clash at the chin neck area.

also shows the sinking die marks ..more information which is good
