I am new to coin collecting. I ran across a nickle, not sure of the exact date. I need some help. Would it be worth having this coin graded as a error coin.

I think post-mint damage is a much more likely explanation. Under magnification, do you see little scratches?

I'm with Jonathan on this one.....I'm thinking some heavy post minting damage.

Yes there are some scratches. I am not seeing consistancy. I just started several months back searching wheat pennies and nickles. Still learning what to look for.

Not an error, just a five cent piece that has had the surface ground down.
