Is this partial missing clad or environmental damage?

My guess is environmental/circulation.  Improperly annealed/sintered planchets & missing clad have a darker appearance even below the surface.

I see now where the coloring is uneven but from what I've read and viewed it's generally an all or nothing effect.  Not my specialty and I've usually only found it on older nickels.  Gunmetal grey or "chocolate" coloring.  Retained luster if found uncirculated.

Here's an example of an attributed 2010 quarter:  https://www.ebay.com/itm/2010-Hot-Springs-NP-25c-Mint-Error-PCGS-MS64-Improperly-Annealed-Planchet-/153339735794

Definitely something picked up in circulation.  Environmental damage would be my guess.
