How Much Does a Fingerprint Affect Grade?

2 posts in this topic

I am thinking of sending the coin below in for grading.  However, I am wondering if I should (1) try to remove the fingerprint using acetone, and (2) if I were to just leave the fingerprint, how adversely does it affect the grade?  Would it even be worth sending in?

Thank you for your interest in NGC. It would be best to not remove the fingerprint, as this could affect the surface conditions of the coin. Fingerprints do not always affect the grade of a coin, so a professional grading opinion could be worthwhile.
