Could this be an error half D mint mark

If that oval mark below the 19 is incuse, (concave) then I would guess that something struck the coin, flattening part of the mint mark and Lincoln's coat lapel.

I can make the spot appear raised or sunken, depending on how I tell my brain to see it. (Interestingly, it is easier to see it as raised if I turn the picture upside down.) Judging by the shadow, it looks incuse to me, but you have it in hand, so you can judge for yourself. If it is raised, then Conder101' s suggestion of a die chip is likely the answer. If it is sunken, then I would say damage.
