Why is the side crushed in ln on my Jefferson Nickel?

Hi guys. I have this Nickel here and while I can see there are 3 Die Chips on the Reverse, 2 behind the initials and a larger one on the left side of Monticello. Please look at the right side of the bldg directly across from the chip on the left and see the depressed area exactly the same shape and size of the lefts large chip. What has caused that? It's like the metal that was there popped out the other side. On a lighter note it kind if looks like the back side of the ghost that is coming out the other side of a wall in an old Casper Cartoon. Don't you think?
