Still trying to get my head around 'Grading" Any Clues on this Coins Grade??

In order to help, one would need to see images of the coin.

Looks like I see some wear on Lincoln's cheek to the left of the nose, and on the beard, hair above the ears, and collar. It is slight, so if there is luster present, I would give this coin an AU50,.otherwise I would say high XF.

There are a some good grading books available, but the Mega Red Book combines grading guides with lots of other information. I recommend picking up a copy.

I can't locate any mint luster, and my book says at least traces of it for EF-40, but VF-30 is quite defensible.

The coin looks like a low end AU example, to me.
