The British Royal Mint is now offering secure storage at their site* An interesting proposition if you live in South Wales. I have also seen private security companies set up a safe deposit facility locally to compete with the Banks. Greater access and flexibility. Comparative costs may be a factor, but I'm happy to see alternatives popping up. Biometrics is the new fad and aids in the ease of accessing your box. 

Maybe I'll have another excuse to go out - going to the Mint honey - be back later.

That is pretty interesting. Maybe the US mint will do the same...yeah right. I would like to have access to more convenient secure storage than what is currently available in my area.
