1982 D Small date copper penny

The small date 2 should be much thinner as this one with the darker patina.  Its bottom proportion is flat like a thin stick. Here is and example I have in my possession I have been holding on to for two years.  It fits the description of every example listed.  One two is further away from the rim than the other.  One 2 looks like the number two which is the small date.  The large date looks like the letter S.  The large date has bold bubble numbers.  While the small date has thinner numbers.  The large dates tip of the two curls up basically touching the rim.  I mean it curls all the way up.  When the small date lays flat with a greater distance away from the rim.  The D mint marks are also in differnt spots. One is further away.  I take it because of the large and small date appearance.  The entire Lincoln head and bust is  smaller in the small date.  The 82 in the small date sits up just a tad bit higher than the large date.  Which is a dead giveaway once you have had an example of both in your hands.  You can toss them up and still see the difference without using a magnifying glass.  I just thank God I put them to the sidepicture12-63rdpic1982.png.490b7f85c632522c0d9e86c059a41b35.png

Everything I can see clearly are large dates.

Yep.  Large Dates on all of the visible ones.  Most of them are too blurry in the photos to really tell.

Welcome to the forum. If that is a 1982-D, it looks like a large date, based on how close the last digit in the date.

I agree with Mark.  I'm seeing a Large Date as well....one that has had a rough life.

Hello,

I have found a coin that is 1982 D small date (I am pretty sure it is by its look, only need to confirm its weight).

Both pictures are of the same coin.

Welcome to the forum.  Your coin is a small date, but the copper coated zinc small date 1982 D cents are very common.  You can certainly weigh it, but not much chance of it being copper.

It looks like it ha Split Plate Doubling around the edge which would make it a zinc cent.

Yep.  I'm seeing that, too.  A split in the plating definitely means you have the common zinc version of the coin.
