Explanation of Variety Certification on Encased Cent

2 posts in this topic

I am an avid collector of encased coins/cents. Recently on eBaySlabbed Encased Cent was listed. I have been trying to find out what the variety attribution means and where I can get reference material that lists the varieties of encased cents. This cent is encased with "1901 Pan-American Exposition NGC MS63 L-EO2 Indian Head Encased Good Luck Cent"  Where does the L-E02 come from? What reference guide tells me about these designations.

Thanks

Thank you for your question. The attribution is from the "Panorama of the Pan=AM" book by Frederick M. Lavin. The book is not easy to obtain through normal outlets such as amazon or ebay so it may take some digging to locate a copy.
