Eugene B Stevens coin collection?

Does anyone have information on the coin collection of Eugene B. Stevens of Parsons, Kansas. As of 1896, Mr. Stevens claimed to have a nearly complete collection of silver and gold branch mint coins.

I saw the catalog and various newspaper articles, but Mr. Stevens' claim was made in in 1897, so I'm looking for anything after that year. (He wanted to buy some of the 1896 alloy experimental pieces.)

 

There were also Eugene, Jr. and Eugene III, but no clear mention of the coins. Could they remain with the heirs?

 

Also, this is only 4 years after Heaton's 1893 book about mintmarked coins. Sees like a very short time to acquire and nearly complete run of gold and silver branch mint coins. Thoughts? Ideas?
