The Royal Mint admits there are quite a substantial number of fake 1₤ coins in circulation in the U.K., over 3%, maybe that's the ideal place to go for collectors of "contemporary counterfeits."

There have bee a tremendous number of fake pounds in circulation for many years. Frankly I believe 3% may be a reduction in the estimate from previously.
